Stephanie is the Associate Director in the International Student and Faculty Office at Northern Illinois University. She has worked in the field for five years and genuinely enjoys the complicated problem solving that comes with working in ISSS. She has a passion for advocacy and really enjoys networking and serving others in the field through her role with IEI.

Lily Huang
Chair
Lily is Assistant Director of ISSS at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, where she advises international students on maintaining their legal status in the U.S. She earned her B.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Illinois and her M.Ed. in International Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago.

Rachel Webb
Chair Elect
After 5 years working in Central Illinois, Rachel recently accepted a position as Lead Specialist in the Office of International Affairs at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she serves as the University's RO and a DSO. She received her B.A. in English, Asian Studies, and Theatre Arts from Augustana College and her M.S. in College Student Personnel Administration from Illinois State University. She also graduated from the NAFSA Academy in 2015. Rachel is passionate about mentorship and community.

Angie Maffeo
Treasurer
Angie started working at the University of St. Francis (USF) in 2012, when she became the founding Director of the university’s English Language for Academic Purposes (ELAP) program. She has since become the Director of the International Programs Office and is responsible for international student services, study abroad, and international enrollment strategy. Prior to working at USF, Angie taught adult ESL classes for many years, and she has been involved in international education since 2002.

Lauren Mock
Education Abroad Rep
Lauren is the Associate Director for study abroad at Northern Illinois University. Her main responsibilities include: marketing, enrollment management, assisting students with their study abroad plans, and managing pre-departure and re-entry programming. Lauren holds a Master’s of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University and is an alumna of NAFSA Academy Class 9.

Marc Davidson
International Student Rep
Marc holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Social Sciences and is completing his Masters of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior, both from Benedictine University. He has travelled to over a dozen countries including Bolivia, Spain, and China. Marc is dedicated to helping both international and study abroad students obtain their goals. The Associate Director at Benedictine UniversityMarc advises international students (F1 and J1), oversee’s the university’s study abroad programs, and manages the degree program taught abroad.

Theresa Johnson
International Scholar Rep
Theresa currently works in the International Office at Northwestern University as Coordinator of Advising Services where she advises international students and scholars. Prior to joining the staff at Northwestern, she worked with the Fulbright Scholar Program at the Institute of International Education in Washington, DC. Theresa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from American University and her Master’s Degree in International Education from George Washington University. She enjoys tennis, travel, and immigration regulations!

Patti Jones
Mentorship Coordinator
Patti holds a BS and MS from Western Illinois University. In addition to ten years of public school teaching, she has held the following positions in higher education: ESL faculty member, Director of International Student Services, Assistant Director of University Advising Center, and Director of WESL. Patricia, a member of NAFSA for 35 year, has held the following leadership positions: Korean Fulbright GSA, chair of NAFSA TCS, LDC, Academy 1 & 12, Regional chair. Recipient of Homer Higbee and Life Membership. Patricia is currently chair-elect of National Membership Committee and chair of university retirement board.

Sara McGuinn
Mentorship Coordinator
Sara is a Senior Study Abroad Program Manager in Northwestern University’s Office of Undergraduate Learning Abroad, and she co-coordinates the IEI Mentorship Program. She holds a BA in Spanish from Northwestern University and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and she is a proud alumna of NAFSA Academy Class 12. Prior to joining the education abroad world, she taught ESL at her local community college.

Elena Taryor
Conference Coordinator I
Elena is the founder of Culture Deep, Inc. an education technology company that teaches students how to get the most out of their study abroad experience. Her current focus is a program called "Study Abroad U." She holds a B.S. in Communication Studies from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the University of Southern California. Before starting her company she studied and interned in Argentina, taught in Taiwan, and has worked in education, immigration, and marketing. She enjoys event and conference planning.

Tessa Zanoni

Tessa currently works in the Office of International Affairs at Kendall College as an international student and study abroad Coordinator. She has her M.Ed. in Cultural & Educational Policy Studies from Loyola University Chicago and a B.A. Spanish & International Studies from Hope College. In 2013, she received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship and spent a year working at a high school in Santander, Spain.

Michaela Kendall
External Communications Coordinator
Michaela works at Libertyville High School as the Language Lab Facilitator, where she also helps develop and coordinate study abroad trips at the high school level. She earned her B.A. in International Studies and Anthropology with a concentration on Spanish language and culture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her M.A. in International Education from SIT Graduate Institute. She enjoys dogs, travel, and planning trips for her family and friends.

Samantha Nissen
Website Manager
Samantha is an external programs coordinator at Northwestern University’s Medill School, where she supports a range of faculty-led study abroad programs. She completed a M.Ed. in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies from Loyola University Chicago, and a B.A. in Journalism and International Studies at the University of Iowa. Previously, Samantha worked at the International Writing Program, where she managed communications for cultural exchange programs.

Tehlyr Kellogg
Intern
Tehlyr studied abroad in Brisbane Australia during the spring semester of 2016, where she found her passion for the International Education field. Tehlyr previously worked as the Executive Coordinator for SPEAK Conversation Group at Illinois Institute of Technology (her alma mater), where her duties included recruiting domestic and international students to create multi-cultural learning environment through conversation on various topics every week. She currently works as a Community Support Specialist for Thresholds, where she assists clients with severe mental illnesses with achieving their goals and becoming more independent. She is also an Intern with IEI where she aids in conference planning and participates in the IEI mentor/mentee program.

Colleen Keefe
Intern
Colleen is currently working in the New Student and Family Programs office at Northwestern University as an administrative assistant. She has an MA in International Studies from DePaul University and a BS in Psychology and Spanish from Clarke University. Before working at Northwestern, Colleen coordinated internships in Laos and Ethiopia for alumni at the Escuela Agricola Panamericana and taught ESL through the Vietnamese Association of IL.

Eric Swan
Intern
Eric is a full-time graduate student in the international higher education program at Loyola University Chicago. His interest in international education began after teaching English in South Korea. Eric has studied abroad in Prague and Ho Chi Min City, and worked with Chinese international students in the past. He is excited to be interning with IEI and working on projects related to the annual conference, education abroad, and advocacy.
